What lays ahead is a tale of a group of fishermen who embark on a rollercoaster journey bringing you valuable information and a laugh along the way, Based in the hills of the Welsh Dee is a sleepy little village called Corwen, Corwen is the place where the Atlantic Salmon make for on there epic journey from waters worlds away..some stop some pass through but they usually dont go a lot further as its near the end of the road. Seatrout also embark on this journey too. The fishermen who pass on the knoledge to you are from all walks of life and have battled long and hard with travellers and gypsies even taking one in as there own, even a village gay.. They are characters known as spies...0.to.69....who have in turn been initiated by cruel tests of courage and strength and personal stamina. lead by the most feared figure to grace Wales the DON...... we bring to you.. " THE DEE MAFIA " .. Please read our thread on the Welsh Dee but remember the characters are not ficticous, and we do enjoy catching anglers as well as fish **************************************** help!!! is there such a site that tells me the river state at the moment as i wanna fish tomo, welsh dee ,,

You can ring the Dee river gauge on 01978 710398.
400 = low summer level
700 - 1000 good fishing level.
Ignore first number given, eg @water level 1, 500 means 500mm.

Spoke to a guy who had a 12lb salmon from the Ruabon area earlier this week. he said it took a size 12 allys, on a floating line with a sink tip braid.
Tried Chirk for a couple of hours. Lovely day, great hatch of fly, no sign of salmon. Went trouting on a lake later and had 7 on buzzers.

a lovely day at newbridge and saw a real clonker in the big pool by the wall, but never got an offer, then on to turn of dee at bangor and saw one more , no one fishing which suprises me as there are odd ones about, water has dropped a lot recently although there is still a bit of colour in it, used floater with a braided 10ft sink leader, and allys on a 15lb 8ft leader , great day though i did lose four flies all in the fly catchers on the other side, going again monday 1st light so lets keep all them fingers crossed

Good water but no fish> Elwyman and all, the Corwen statement?......it's absolute bollocks....one fish lost, 2 fish seen and that's our paltry lot. To the rest of you......why fish before the 16th of June? Can you really justify self indulgence and tradition against conservation? Bugsy

Bugsy Only repeating what I heard - I guess Arthur was referring to the fish caught lower down the river, he ain't too hot on geography, he thought the Alwen junction was below Corwen! EA records show 5 or 6 fish in April is about par for the Dee.
