B&W where very famous for their rods in the Netherlands a Year or twenty ago. What is left of this brand ?? Are they still making High quality flyrods, are they British built ?? Can they compare to other top quality brands?? How do they cast ? Good quality components ?

A friend has a B&W Silver Stream 12'6 fibreglass. It's a joy to cast, and great for complete beginners.

Stonkin rods blanks made here assembled here ,they will do custom builds .I own 5 or 6 only ever sold one on the rest i will keep until they die on me .the boss is a proper angler who welcomes sensible visitors and even welcomes me . they will also sell you blanks and turn 3 peice 15 footers into 6 peices and 5 peice 12.5s (mention Geoff Hinds , he drives them crazy)

But do you notice it is nearly always their Salmon rods that crop up in disscussion. I can not remember a time when one of their Trout rods was mentioned & even if it was, just casually. Why is that? Do they not have a range of Trout rods? Do they not advertise like the others do. Just wondered Tight Lines

I've got a 10' B&W Merlin Steam King Trout rod that I picked up cheap 2nd hand and I love it. It is my favourite rod for fishing spiders or bugging. The rod is marked as a 4-6 weight, but I find it works best for me with a 4 weight dt. It roll casts fantastic which is a real plus when fishing upstream spiders. The only down side with the rod is that it is a 2 piece. If this was available in a 3 or 4 piece with exactly the same action then I would be putting my hand in my pocket. Cheers Mick

their trout rods are fine, get a really old 10'6 sea trout rod with an oldyworldy actionand it will force you to roll cast-great practice for river fishing with your lighter, faster rods

I've got an 8 1/2 ft 6wt streamking trout rod(second hand off Ebay) super little rod. I couldn't get on with the 10'6" sea trout/salmon hexagraph though I sold it on very quickly(heavy and very slow)

The 10 1/2 foot 3 piece Multitrout, rated 6/7, is, for me, the perfect sea trout rod, although it may be, like me, a little long in the tooth.
