Hi Folks,
I fancy the look of the new Loop Classic 811 reel. I know it's not neccessary but it looks lovely. Anyone used one? How does it compare with the Hardy Cascapedia? Neither reel has exposed rim control - I would probably miss this - old habits die hard. Any comments welcome.
Thanks,
Clobemonman.

Just waiting on the new Loop to arrive. Will let you know what I think. It's based on the Loop Evotec technology so it's bound to be good. With the braking system on these reels you don't miss rim control.
I've also got a Cascapedia (not the new one) and I like it alot.

The new Cascapedia is just badge engineering not a proper Cascapedia. The Loop "click" sounds a bit tinny to my ear..........just not quite perfect

Just received my new 8/11 Loop Classic reel today. One word......fantastic! Looks great and as I said, the brake system could stop a train.
Willie, sorry the click isn't tinny (-: It's almost "perfect"". Hopefully I'll get to hear it sing at Orton in 10days!!!

Hi Folks,
Many thanks for comments so far.
Glad you like the Loop Classic Storlaks.
Can't wait to hear what it's like in actual use. Hope you test it with a fish!
Regards,
Clobemonman.

I kind of assumed that for £600 it would be 'the works' so to speak. In saying that I've yet to hear someone rave about a modern Hardys reel in terms of preformance - looks and appeal yes, performance, no... Bri

He's worried it's knocked £100s off the resale value!

Bri, wouldn't even consider the new Hardy Cascapedia now the Loop Classic is available for less. It out classes it by a huge margin....honestly. And it looks better!

Yep but it doesn't come MUCH cheaper does it... I mean if you can afford £500 on a reel then you can afford £600 right?
And, if I had that kinda money to spend on a salmon reel I'd be a bit of a sucker for the provenance of a hardy...

The original Cascapedias were multiplier reels, the ones Storloks and I have are replicas and are multipliers the Cascapedia 2s are just a disc drah reel with an S shaped handle.
