Id rather not say which river untill I get back -don't know how the company would feel about me chatting about it on here. It's one of the southern ones but I'll leave it at that. Discovering the job was purely down to right place at the right time. I was shooting with a friend who did it last year, he said he had been asked to go back this season but couldn't because hes now corporate slave in London. So he forwarded the email to me and I relpied instead ;D. My duties are mainly based around the camp, the guides do most of the fishing. As for my skill level, I think enthusiasm is almost more important than ability -I hope!

sagecaster talks sense- The big fish are regularly hooked, but are so strong that they are lost most of the time. I broke the drag on two okumas and a Hardy Angel. I was using 22lb fluorocarbon leaders and when I ran out one day, I changed over to 15lb maxima. Sod's law dictated that I then hooked a 30lb plus 'crocodile' and with my Hardy Angel's drag grating away the bloody fish snapped the leader.
Take lots of 20lb plus leader material (30lb plus for June)and use Loop doubles for tubes. The adrenaline is brown enough when a monster starts charging around, without worrying that your leader is too light or your hooks too weak..

Hear hear, its not Salmon fishing as most people know it, ......a different ball game altogether.
