Regarding the 'fuzzies'. You can remove most, if not all of them before applying the epoxy by wafting a ciggy lighter by the whippings as you turn the rod. There are dangers. Forget to move the lighter or the rod or hold the flame too close and the nylon melts. You just have to waft it around close-ish - but not too close. It is not a difficult technique once you know the limits and you can practice it on the practice whippings done on a piece of dowel or a plastic ball point pen tube. Saves a bit of time. Dave. Just to add to Dave's advice, I have found it useful to use a candle rather than lighter. This leaves both hands free to contol the positioning of the rod near the flame.

Yes - I found that it was easy to remove fuzzies with a lighter before applying flexcoat. There is no excuse for those really - but, what I found happening was that fuzzies would later appear on the first and last turns of thread - I have no idea why except that the brush and flexcoat must have encouraged the thread to become 'bushier' on the ends where more surface area is exposed. Also, it could have been because the first wrap was not as tight on a few whippings.
