Lochinloch, Apology Just incase someone thinks you are poaching, I would like to explain to the members of the forum that this was a wind up, and boy did Lochinloch take the bait! I know lochinloch very well, but he does not know who I am yet. No, Lochinloch is not a poacher, but he can be a little fractious if you pull his chain! You have all been warned!

This should be Loch Enoch......the highest loch in the Galloway hills colin In 1994 Loch Enoch was restocked with 3000 yearling trout raised form the Loch Grannoch strain. Colin

I've been in contact with a guy from pitlochry fishery board for the past few years, the trout were put in as fingerlings because the egg stage would have been affected by the acidic water. however the last time i spoke to him he said the trout are breeding by themselves now, he found varied aged trout in the nets so that's great news. Enoch was so badly affected by acid rain because there isn't much filtration the rain water simply runs straight off the Merrick into the loch. The water quality seems to be fine now. i even saw a leech the last time i was up there. the trout are in great order too. not that i've caught 1 yet History used to say Enoch trout didn't have any bottom fins because they got rubbed away from the granite bottom, actually it was the effect of acidic water that was stunting the fins, i found trout in the dry loch of the dungeons with the same problem about 7 years ago. colin
