The International Team championship

Hi all,

After having a lengthy conversation with Captain (AKA Martin) we are looking at setting this up, what i want to view with the Poll is a rough idea of who would be interested in this.

We have had a few ideas already and I would like to put some of these across to the anglers as this competition will be run by 4 very well established anglers for anglers, with the main aim of producing a competitive but enjoyable competition that puts something back into the competition scene instead of taking it out all the time.

The competition would be run on a 4 or 6 man event with heats in Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland with the aim of getting an International Final which if possible will be made free from any entry fee for the teams. This can only be done by getting the support fo the teams and a lot fo hard work. Worthwhile prizes would also be provided for all the winners form all heats and finals.

The 4 indiviauls who will be running the Competition have been mentioned myslef, Martin, Iwan and Campbell and we will run the competition in a way that we are not out of pocket(expenses only) nor do we profit from the competition in anyway. We 4 are not here to make money but we cannot use our own money to pay our way, but our time will be free. We will also need help with the admin side of things but by looking at the views here there will be no shortage of that.

We also feel that a full set of account's detailing every penny will be an added incentive to the teams as they will know where their monies have gone to.

Comments are also welcome, so please feel free to get your say in the now.

The competiton will be policed very closely and fished to International rules which we think is also pretty lacking in the competition scene these days. A true and honest comp is what is required so come on what you think?

One another note, it will be a team competiton and not an individual so no wild cards etc.. Sorry Chris

As I stated on an earlier thread.. I'm willing to be involved on an understanding that NO Bungs shall be allowed... This competition is to promote the traditions of our wonderful sport where flies are cast and worked back to the boat in true 'Loch Style'. Another wish is to see the end of time bonus thus encouraging anglers to 'relax' without thoughts of stocky bashers Blobbing quick limits... I would hope it will encourage ex competition anglers back sickened by the way the sport has deteriorated (arguably) over the years... Thoughts on this??

Bring it on, not sure about getting rid of the time bonus, would be up for a four fish kill then C&R. the trouble with no time bonus as some of my mates have encountered in Scotland is you could be sitting finished at 2 pm and your partner through no extra skill catches six fish that beats your eight. Hardly fair ;D

hi simmo.if you go down the c+r after a set no of fish,with a weight per fish returned,would this not eliminate the problem you describe.

Captain, NO bungs = NO boobies. How has the sport deteriorated? The biggest gripe is that of cost.

no bungs agreed, but i did not see naything about booby's.

The whole idea is back to basics and agreed cost and prizes are the biggest gripe.

What I meant daver was you could use the booby or a big dry as a bung, but this could be sorted out in the rules of the competition.

No flies suspended beneath another fly thus using 'said' 'fly' as a FLOAT... I'm not going down that path again Chris....... 'Washing Line'...no probs...before it's mentioned...... NO FLOATFISHING!! If anyone wishes to adopt such methods... then do not enter... same for anyone who wishes to bend any rules! Hope this is clear....

Can't see much difference from ( for me anyway) the well run and freindly comp called the Anglian Water Fulling Mill 6 man team event or am I missing something..... does 1 of the organisers have a problem with this particular event?

4 man team as a lot is aimed at 6 man teams it would be good to have a 4 man again and if anyone gets caught cheating will the match officials please at the results name them and that would stop a lot of it. i have witnessed this year 4 england team members cheating and they just get told quitely not to weigh in so none knows.

plus if its a 4 man tean the some of the 6 men teams will just add 2 reserves so u should get more

no one has a problem with the anglian here. But the whole point is to get the cost down £350 pounds for each team to fish in the International final of the Anglian. Would it not be better for the team as described to get to the final for free?
