The Griffin is a good vise, I just got one not long ago. The baker looks a bit on the cheap side, and for that amount of money, I think you would be happier with the Griffin. It comes with some tools, a hard case, and both a pedestal base and a c-clamp.
The jaws on the mongoose can be modified to center. One thing I'm not 100% happy with is the tensioner on the vise. I may have to play around with it a bit more. I know I had a similar issue with the Odyssey vise.
Also keep in mind that a vise is a personal thing. Not everyone has the same taste.

Vice reviews here. flyfisherman.com/ftb/hwvise/No experience with either of the above vices, best bet would be to see if you could try one first, what looks good on a screen might be a pig to use.

I have had the Weaver Rotary vice for about a year-eighteen months. I does everything that I want and I've used it to tie on hooks from size 20 to 2/0. It looks very similar to the Baker Esox but you can see it on the Scottie Rods website at www.scottierods.com/fly-tying-vice.htmlWill

After spending the weekend trawling reviews on various websites I have decided to go for the Montana Mongoose.
Thanks very much to eveyone who took the trouble to reply to my post.
I am just looking around for the best deal for getting one in from the states. I hope to place an order in the next few days.
I'll post a little review on the board once i get it. Don't hold your breath though it may take a week or two to get here.

pity we can't get good vice's cheaply here in NZ. The weak Kiwi $ means stuff is getting expensive. About $3 to the pound.
