Boyne, Kells Blackwater, Fane, Avonmore, Moy, Whitewater, Upperbann, Mourne, Finn (if Easky takes me) Carlingford loch. I would encourage all the guys from Ireland (North or South) to have a crack at the Bass Fly Fishing Festival this year on Carlingford Loch. J.

good stuff. i hear its pretty good in my opinion if you can get a worm/prawn or spinner in the water you can get a fly in the water just as easy. thats why they invented the roll cast if there are too many overhanging trees im afraid a spinning rod won't be any more use than a fly rod. you should see the 3 mile for hard fishing and its fly only

as rrw says its a bit early for any decent fishing yet, we had the Six Mile one last year but it won't really be until July that it kicks off. One thing of note if you are planning to fish the Mourne at Sion Mills. I was up on Friday on the way to the Finn and called in to the shop. They were refitting after a fire and theft but were saying the rules for fishing the Gravenue have changed - there are now only 4 none club member day tickets allowed and you have to have the DCAL license. Last year there were so many day tickets fishing it (esp v early) that the locals were getting p--sed off and so this is the result It will be interesting to see how they try to manage this though, I can imagine it could end up in fisty cuffs as people try and get on of the 4 tickers ;D E The place is a dump Easky. The first time i fished it, there was a mattress stuffed into the fish pass at the Gravenue. Last year, at Victoria bridge, it was lined with guys spinning 10 feet apart, who would'nt let you in to fish down a pool. (These assholes were probably unable to read the "make way for fly anglers" on the ticket ) So, I'll give the shell suited prawners and metal merchants a miss this year again mate.

Katesbridge from May on, three pools down from the bridge. Fishing a Sedge Pattern, Kiwi Style, with a size 14/16 PTN on the dropper. Took 4 wild browns last yar from that stretch up to 2 1/2 pounds. With a few around the pound mark. This FF tour you guys are doing, are you coming down the coast? Keep me posted. J.

I agree to a certain extent rrw, it can get very busy with non-fly fishers and their associated 'irrations' but it can also provide some fantastic fishing. We had some great days on it last year, especially early on before the metal bashers et al arrived . If it was properly managed it would be one of the best places in all of Ireland, unfortunately that it easier said than done in that part of the world! The local boys don't take to kindly to people sticking their noises in

Can't blame the club. Funny how anything of any quality becomes more exlusive when an element of scum starts hanging around. J.

did u ever have much success on the upper bann? whereabouts did you fish it? katesbridge?gilford? always wondered if it held many fish The river, has nice water between, Tullylish & launstown. If heading from gilford, to banbridge. The river runs on the right side of the road. The water above is about 2 miles above gilford. You will see tullylish sign posted. On the first right turn, of the gilford to banbridge. road. There,s a stone bridge with a church, beside it. A short distance down this turn off. You can park here. Fish right up to larnstown. There is some very good water. The river holds a good stock of fish. For a few £ ,s you can fish it for the day.
